Kaiser plans Kalamazoo expansion

Kaiser Aluminum Corp. is making plans to expand its new Kalamazoo, Mich., operation in a bid to capitalize on the push for more fuel-efficient vehicles by domestic automakers even though the recently commissioned facility has yet to reach its full operating rate.
The Kalamazoo, Mich., plant, which is expected to approach its full run rate by yearend, may see an influx of orders as automakers respond to higher fuel-efficiency standards by relying more heavily on lightweight aluminum extrusions, making the site a prime target for expansion, said Jack Hockema, Kaiser's chairman, president and chief executive officer.....
