Turkish buying lifts shredded exports

U.S. exports of shredded scrap rose 9.3 percent in August, spurred in large part by a midyear Turkish buying binge.

Shipments of the fragmented scrap climbed to 625,380 tonnes from 572,101 tonnes in July, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department.

Turkey's intake of shredded soared to 213,207 tonnes in August, more than double the 85,474 tonnes it took the previous month and close to triple the 74,510 tonnes it bought from U.S. suppliers in June.....
