Region important in LME price discovery, Milan says

Asia is "incredibly important" in price determination on the London Metal Exchange, Liz Milan, managing director of LME Asia, said after being quoted in a local paper as downplaying the need for Asian prices.
"The conversation we were trying to have is that yes, Asia is incredibly important in the fixing or the determining of price that you see on the LME, but there are other factors and you can't just put a wall around Asia when you have production of most of these metals coming from outside Asia," she told Metal Bulletin in an exclusive interview. "You can't oversimplify the metals market. They have global influences, although without a doubt the Asian influence through massive growth here is very, very important to those markets. But....
