Doe Run to upgrade plants, close Herculaneum in EPA settlement

Doe Run Co., North America's largest lead producer, has agreed to correct environmental violations at 10 of its Missouri facilities, as well as shut down its Herculaneum smelter in southeastern Missouri for environmental reasons.

The settlement, reached between the company and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Justice Department and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will cost the St. Louis-based lead producer some $65 million, the EPA said.....
