United Taconite LLC's iron ore processing facility in Forbes, Minn., is facing opposition from local environmentalists who seek to ensure the operation's compliance with the Clean Air Act.
National parks and clean air advocates in the state, claiming that United Taconite's sulfur dioxide emissions have been nearly six times higher than any other taconite processor in Minnesota, have petitioned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to object to a recent permit issued to the facility.....
