ISRI considers revising shelmo specification

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has called on the copper scrap market to consider revising specifications of a shredded electric motors item called shelmo—popularly known as "meatballs."
The mixed copper-bearing material from shredding motors without cases, mostly an export item, is allowed to contain aluminum-wound material subject to agreement between buyers and sellers, but no limitation on aluminum contamination is specified. International buyers have now asked for the specification to be revised, and ISRI will hold a meeting in Las Vegas Nov. 3 to discuss the issue. ....
