Metals producers shed jobs, fabricators up

U.S. nonfarm payroll employment rose by 919,000 in October, reflecting new jobs created in mining and several service-providing industries compared with a month earlier, according to government statistics.
However, the overall unemployment rate was unchanged at 9.6 percent, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics figures.....
