In the Midwest, where September 2010 unemployment rates ranged from an uncommonly low 7 percent (Wisconsin) to 10.1 percent (Indiana and Kentucky), investments by companies large (Ford Motor Co.) and small (Fort Recovery Industries Inc.) will help to create thousands of jobs over the next three years.
In the metals area
•Fort Recovery Industries, an aluminum and zinc die cast hardware manufacturer, will invest $4.5 million to open a 50,000-square-foot plant in Portland, Ind., creating up to 40 new jobs by 2013.
•Metal tubing fabricator Whitley Products Inc. will spend $1 million to build a warehouse and install new equipment at a Plymouth, Ind., plant and create 30 new jobs by 2012.....
