US nonferrous scrap exports slip in September

A stronger dollar and higher prices pulled down nonferrous scrap export volumes in September as major Asian consumers reduced their aluminum and zinc scrap purchases.

Nonferrous scrap shipments to foreign smelters and importers totaled 281,777 short tons, down 3 percent from 290,486 tons in August, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department.....
