Europe takes more US high-grade copper scrap

European buyers have been building a greater presence in the high-grade copper scrap market, boosting their intake of U.S. material more than 10 percent in September.
European purchases of high-grade copper scrap—including bare bright, No. 1 and No. 2—totaled 2,064 short tons in September, up 10.9 percent from 1,861 tons the previous month.
European importers that showed particularly healthy appetites included Austria, which increased its intake of refined copper scrap from U.S. suppliers by 23.3 percent to 614 tons from 498 tons, and Spain, which took 193 tons vs. just 21 tons in August.....
