John Goodish's sixth sense must have been working overtime at the American Institute for International Steel annual dinner and Steel Business Briefing Global Steel Markets Conference held jointly at the Plaza Hotel in New York. U.S. Steel Corp.'s executive vice president and chief operating officer was feted with a special award in advance of his pending retirement from the Pittsburgh steelmaker. "If I'd have known this (award) was going to happen, I'd have said 'no' when I was asked to speak," he said. Goodish almost got his wish along with two U.S. Steel public relations representatives, Tube City LLC's Joe Curtin, a colleague of Curtin's and an AMM reporter, he was trapped between floors in a very warm elevator at the Plaza for about 10....
