Business boost in big cities, polls say

Purchasing managers in New York and Chicago say business conditions improved in November and project better times ahead, according to a pair of reports released Tuesday. The results could signal that the U.S. economy as a whole is speeding up heading into 2011.
New York City business activity expanded at the quickest rate in five months, according to a survey by the Institute for Supply Management-New York (ISM). The Current Business Conditions index rose 0.9 points to 65.6 in November, from 64.7 in October, and the Six-Month Outlook index increased to 71.9 in November from 69.8 in October, a gain of 2.1 points.....
