United Spiral Pipe LLC's new president, Patrick J. Mullarkey, may soon be overseeing a much smaller workforce than his predecessor.

The Pittsburg, Calif.-based large-diameter line pipe maker may lay off more than 100 employees a week before Christmas, according to documents filed with the State of California.

In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN), United Spiral Pipe (USP) said 108 employees could be laid off on Dec. 17.

WARN notices are required 60 days in advance of any mass layoff or plant closing to give employees a chance to plan for the possibility of losing their job, to look for another job or seek training to better compete in the job market.....
