CPTI lauds effort to enforce duties

Introducing the Enforce Act is the first step. Passing and then strongly enforcing the measure, which seeks to combat evasion on U.S. anti-dumping and countervailing duty laws, are the next steps and should be taken in short order, according to the Washington-based Committee on Pipe and Tube Imports (CPTI).

CPTI's Customs Task Force is applauding U.S. Reps. Linda Sanchez (D., Calif.) and Walter Jones (R., N.C.), who last week introduced H.R. 6549, the Enforcing Orders and Reducing Customs Evasion Act of 2010, also known as the Enforce Act. U.S. Rep. Mark Cruz (D., Pa.) also joined as an original co-sponsor of the legislation, which committee members believe would remedy duty evasion.....
