Aluminum alloy makers attempt price hike

Secondary aluminum producers are pushing to raise prices by a penny or two this week in anticipation of a seasonal tightening of scrap and a stronger primary market.

A380.1 ingots traded this week between $1.09 and $1.10 per pound on the spot market, but producers raised their ask price to between $1.12 and $1.14 per pound late Wednesday.

Early last week the market reported trades between $1.09 and $1.12 per pound until Beachwood, Ohio-based Aleris International dropped sales prices to between $1.09 and $1.10 (AMM, Dec 1). ....
