Elixir set for December shipments

Aluminum extruder Elixir Industries expects to begin shipping some product from its recomissioned plant in Mishawaka, Ind., this month, with full production forecast for the second quarter, a company official told AMM.
"We will probably actually start shipping some materials in December. We have already started cycling the press," said Dwight Knowles, vice president and chief operation officer. "We've already got orders in place; we've already got raw material in place."
The plant, idled in early 2009 due to declining demand and increased competition, comprises two 7-inch presses that together have an operating capacity of about 2.5 million pounds a month. The company expects to run one press full-out and the other as a back-up, Knowles said, meaning actual output levels may be somewhat lower.....
