Defense scrap sales surpass 310M lbs.

Ferrous and nonferrous scrap sales for Defense Department contractor Government Liquidation LLC grew 2.5 percent to more than 310 million pounds in fiscal 2010 from a little more than 302.5 million pounds in the prior fiscal year.
Steel scrap sales accounted for 73 percent (229 million pounds) of the Defense scrap generated and sold through auctions during the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2010, up 2.4 percent from the same year-ago period, the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company said.
Aluminum and irony was the second most traded material, at 29.8 million pounds, up 11.2 percent year on year.....
