Wire rod seen avoiding price frenzy firing up other markets

The wire rod market appears poised to avoid the rapid-fire series of price increase announcements leapfrogging across other steel markets, with sources saying that Nucor Corp. is unlikely to trump a leading move by Keystone Steel & Wire Co.
Peoria, Ill.-based Keystone advised customers that due to a rapid escalation in scrap costs it would raise prices on wire rod products by $60 per ton ($3 per hundredweight) effective with Jan. 1 shipments (AMM, Dec. 7).....
