W. Coast structural tubing makers unanimous in push for hike

Part of the West Coast steel industry that has been especially cautious in announcing price hikes this year has now gone all in, as local structural tubing producers appear unanimous in their intention to boost prices by $40 per ton ($2 per hundredweight).
The increase, which follows earlier hikes by tubing mills east of the Rockies and attributed largely to rising raw material costs, still leave most West Coast mills one increase behind following new hikes by their counterparts in the Midwest.
The mills announcing increases, according to market sources, include Hannibal Industries Inc., Los Angeles; Maruichi American Corp., Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; Searing Industries Inc., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; and Vest Inc., Los Angeles. The Oregon Steel Structural Tubing unit of Evraz Inc. North America, Portland, Ore., had previously announced a hike.....
