Aluminum ingot makers push through price hikes

Secondary aluminum producers have finally succeeded in raising prices 2 cents per pound, citing stronger markets and rising scrap prices.

A move by alloy makers to push ingot prices up last week went unrewarded until Wednesday, when primary aluminum prices began trading higher. Only one producer claimed sales at $1.12 per pound last week .

The London Metal Exchange's three-month North American special aluminum alloy contract (Nasaac) ended Thursday's second ring at $2,285 per tonne ($1.0365 per pound), up 1.6 percent from $2,250 per tonne ($1.0206 per pound) a week earlier.....
