Driller sues Texas tubular suppliers

SM Energy Co. has fired a legal salvo at several Texas oil country service and supply companies for providing allegedly defective and dangerous products.
The Denver-based independent oil and gas driller said that 5.5-inch P110 casing made by Indian oil country tubular goods (OCTG) producer Maharashtra Seamless Ltd. failed in an Oklahoma well.
Maharashtra Seamless, however, is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit filed in Harris County (Texas) District Court. Instead, SM Energy filed a complaint against what appears to be an entire oil country goods supply chain, including distributors, service providers and a subsidiary of Chinese OCTG maker Tianjin Pipe Group Corp. (TPCO).....
