Gerdau Ameristeel ups long product tags another $45/T

Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. has beaten the market to the punch on the latest long product hike by immediately putting through a $45-per-ton increase that its rivals weren't due to implement until next month.
Tampa, Fla.-based Gerdau Ameristeel notified customers late Friday that instead of waiting until January to implement an additional $45-per-ton ($2.25 per hundredweight) increase, it would make the move "effective with shipments Monday, Dec. 13," according to market sources. Orders placed Dec. 3 through Dec. 10 will be price-protected if shipped this month.....
