Essar Algoma eyeing up to 400 layoffs

Essar Steel Algoma Inc. is prepared to lay off up to 12.5 percent of its work force due to weak steel market conditions.
A spokeswoman for the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario-based company confirmed Monday that up to 400 of the company's 3,200 employees could be laid off, although she said it hopes as many cuts as possible will come via attrition and early retirement....
