Congress extends transportation funds

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a nine-month extension of transportation funding that expired nearly 15 months ago.
If approved by the Senate, the 2011 budget appropriations will fund major highway, public transportation and aviation expenditures through Sept. 30, 2011. The current extension is set to expire at the end of this month.
The U.S. Transportation Department and other government agencies have been operating since Oct. 1 under two continuing resolutions that extended their funding at fiscal 2010 levels through Dec. 18. ....
