Ferrosilicon slips as supply fears ease

Spot ferrosilicon prices are falling in the United States as concerns about a supply squeeze ease amid expectations of fresh material arriving from China early next year.
Prices have dropped to between $1.09 and $1.14 per pound from $1.10 to $1.15 previously, with indications pointing to steady prices into the first quarter as idled production in China resumes early next year.
A buyer said he was surprised he was able to buy 50 tonnes in the $1.09 to $1.14 range for the first quarter. "That was a little bit of a surprise," he said. "It seemed like most expected that it was going to move higher." ....
