Global zinc and lead surplus widens, Chinese imports fall-ILZSG

Zinc and lead supply outstripped demand by 211,000 tonnes and 51,000 tonnes, respectively, in the 10 months through October, according to the latest figures from the International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG).

Global zinc production for the first 10 months of 2010 totaled 10,552,000 tonnes, while demand lagged at 10,341,000 tonnes, ILZSG said Wednesday. The global zinc surplus widened by 36,000 tonnes from the first nine months of the year, with demand failing to live up to expectations. ....
