US brass mill products trade deficit rises

The U.S. trade deficit for brass mill products widened in October, according to the latest figures from the Washington-based Copper and Brass Fabricators Council (CBFC).
U.S. imports exceeded exports by 23.37 million pounds in October, up 2 percent from 22.91 million pounds the previous month and 55.38 percent from a 15.04 million pound gap in October 2009.
Imports of brass mill products totaled 42.81 million pounds in October, up 4.6 percent from 40.93 million pounds in September and 22.8 percent from 34.86 million pounds the same month a year earlier. Germany remained the leading supplier for imports, with shipments measuring 8.68 million pounds in October, followed by Mexico (4.96 million pounds), Canada (4.07 million pounds), South Korea (4.03 million pounds) and China (3.68 million....
