Aluminum puck values jump in Boeing auction for 1st quarter

Winning bids for aluminum scrap to be generated at Boeing Co.'s facilities in Washington state during the first quarter of 2011 rose sharply from fourth-quarter levels, with briquetted borings logging gains ranging from 8.4 to 21.7 percent.
Prices increased across the board during the latest Boeing auction, reflecting higher prices for primary aluminum. The three-month price of P1020 closed second-ring trade on the London Metal Exchange at $2,309.50 per tonne ($1.0476 per pound) Dec. 1, when the latest auction was announced, up 11.4 percent from $2,074 per tonne (94.075 cents per pound) on Sept. 1, when Boeing's auction of fourth-quarter scrap was announced.....
