Indian imports keep ferrochrome prices steady

Increased imports from India have kept the U.S. high-carbon ferrochrome market steady as traders reported business mostly at the lower end of AMM's range of $1.29 to $1.35 per pound.
Indian material has a lower chrome content and sells at a discount to the high-carbon spot premium, with market participants reporting offers of around $1.05 to $1.10 per pound.
Some producers cannot use the material since they require a higher chrome content, but traders said its availability was increasing pricing competition as sellers fight for the high-spec chrome consumers. "Only one or two shipments (from Indian producers) can impact the market," a trader said. ....
