Copper, brass service center shipments climb in November

Shipments by domestic copper and brass service centers grew both month on month and year on year in November, according to the most recent figures from the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association (CBSA).
Service center shipments of copper and brass products totaled 21.14 million pounds in November, up 4.3 percent from 20.28 million pounds the previous month—boosted by gains in copper products that offset declines in alloys—and 14.6 percent higher than shipments of 18.45 million pounds in November 2009.
A high price environment may be contributing to a flurry of smaller just-in-time orders through the end of the year as buyers decide whether it is practical to wait for lower copper tags. Spot prices for the red metal have averaged $4.1382 per pound on the Comex through December. ....
