Whats next, fighter jets?Texas law enforcers have one up on RoboCop. Theyve got a new weapon in their arsenal to capture metal thieves: helicopters. A McLennan County deputy sheriff arrested a man after the countys Aviation Unit helicopter dropped him off to interrupt a theft in progress. Patrol units and the helicopter responded to the report of the theft, and because the helicopter arrived first the pilot set down and dropped off the deputy to make the arrest, the sheriffs office said. A second man fled but was caught by the countys down-to-earth deputies in patrol cars. The two were wanted in the theft of farm equipment, which was sold for scrap metal, the sheriffs office said. The helicopter and patrol units were involved later the same day in the arrest of three people suspected of burglarizing a home.
