Severstal, IMBS eyeing Canadian iron ore plant

MONTREAL Russian steelmaker OAO Severstal and a South African partner, Iron Mineral Beneficiation Services Pty. Ltd. (IMBS), are conducting a feasibility study for the construction of a $1-billion iron ore processing plant in Sept-Iles, Quebec.
"Severstal is moving forward with the consideration of its proposed metallic iron briquettes greenfield project in Sept-Iles as the management of Severstal-affiliated company IIBG (International Iron Beneficiation Group Ltd.) approved the decision to proceed with a feasibility study," a Severstal spokeswoman told AMM.
