Senators release outline of draft transportation bill

CHICAGO — Two Republican and two Democratic Senators say they have found common ground on the transportation and infrastructure debate as they released an outline of their proposed transportation authorization bill Wednesday.

"We have made great progress on a new transportation authorization bill," the four Senators—Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.), James Inhofe (R., Okla.), Max Baucus (D., Mont.) and David Vitter (R., La.)—said in a statement.

"It is no secret that the four of us represent very different political views, but we have found common ground in the belief that building highways, bridges and transportation systems is an important responsibility of the federal government, in cooperation with state and local governments and the private sector," they added.....
