NEW YORK — Metal packaging company Crown Holdings Inc. will build two new aluminum can plants in China and add a second line to an already-under-construction facility, bringing to 10 the number of beverage can plants across China.

The Philadelphia-based company said the new facilities will be in Zhengzhou (central China) and Changchun (northeastern China). Each plant will have an initial annual production capacity of 720 million two-piece aluminum beverage cans.

Jozef Salaerts, the company’s Asia Pacific president, said the consumer market in China is growing at a rapid pace. "Adding facilities in Zhengzhou and Changchun demonstrates Crown’s commitment to support our customers’ growth in this critical market," he said. "The plants are also a testament to the increasing popularity of beverage cans in the region and the value they bring to consumers from both the convenience and sustainability perspectives."....
