Sims shredder going toe-to-toe with Schnitzer

PHILADELPHIA Sims Metal Management Ltd. is on course for a toe-to-toe battle with rival Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc., with plans to establish a shredder and two scrapyards in the same Providence, R.I., suburb in which Schnitzer has a yard and shredder.
Joseph M. Polisena, mayor of Johnston, R.I., said he met with an attorney representing Sims Metal Management, and the company has agreed to buy two adjoining sites where it will build scrap processing facilities. The first would be a shredding operation, he said, while the second would collect and process old household appliances.....
