China drives realignment in stainless

BIRMINGHAM, England — Stainless steel price margins have fallen by as much as 50 percent over the past 25 years, according to Gerhard Pariser, director of research at Heinz Pariser Alloy Metals & Steel Market Research.

The change has come as the industry realigns itself with a shift in manufacturing centers and increasing pressure from Asia, he said at the British Stainless Steel Association’s 4th International Stainless Steel Symposium. ....
