Tensions high as currency bill passes Senate

NEW YORK — The U.S. Senate is looking ahead to a week of open debate on the currency reform bill that passed overwhelmingly Monday evening by a 79-to-19 vote.

However, doubts run high among trade experts and Washington watchers that Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives will pass the Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act, which would allow U.S. manufacturers to use domestic trade laws to offset alleged currency manipulation (AMM, Oct. 4).....
