CHICAGO Successful operations management requires a keen eye for developing people, as well as knowing processes and who you are, according to a Nelsen Steel Co. executive.
Although outside salespeople are the stars of any company, its inside salespeoplethose who have to satisfy new customers and take special care of existing oneswho "do the heavy lifting," James Sarwark, director of sales and marketing at the cold-finished carbon and alloy steel bar producer, said at AMMs Steel Long Products Conference in Chicago. "But we hire them, send them into the pits and say good luck."....
