Nucor might consider iron ore mining venture

NEW YORK — Nucor Corp. could consider expanding upstream into iron ore mining if the opportunity presents itself as part of its push for more low-cost raw materials ownership, the company’s top executives said.
"That’s certainly a possibility, that under the right set of opportunities, that we would be willing to partner with somebody . . . (for) access to our own iron ore. I wouldn’t rule that out, but there’s nothing imminent that we are about to announce," Daniel R. DiMicco, Nucor’s chairman and chief executive officer, said during the company’s third-quarter earnings conference call.....
