Nucor might consider iron ore mining venture

NEW YORK Nucor Corp. could consider expanding upstream into iron ore mining if the opportunity presents itself as part of its push for more low-cost raw materials ownership, the companys top executives said.
"Thats certainly a possibility, that under the right set of opportunities, that we would be willing to partner with somebody . . . (for) access to our own iron ore. I wouldnt rule that out, but theres nothing imminent that we are about to announce," Daniel R. DiMicco, Nucors chairman and chief executive officer, said during the companys third-quarter earnings conference call.....
