US stainless steel scrap exports rebound

PHILADELPHIA — The U.S. stainless scrap export market displayed more luster in August as shipments to offshore mills rebounded from the previous month.

U.S. exports of the shiny scrap climbed 14.4 percent to 55,025 tonnes from 48,107 tonnes in July, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department. Despite the August gain, exports of 432,719 tonnes through the first eight months of 2011 still....
