PHILADELPHIA Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc. (Arca) said both its appliance recycling operations and its retail appliance stores boosted revenue and earnings in the third quarter ended Oct. 1.
Operating income more than doubled, the Minneapolis-based recycler said, driven primarily by higher revenue from both units. The recycling segment has been the earnings workhorse in the past year or more, while the company ApplianceSmart chain of retail stores has been lagging largely as a result of weak real estate and construction markets, which are associated with....
