Novelis to grow scrap inputs to 4M tons by '20

CHICAGO — Novelis Inc.’s scrap inputs will grow to 4 million tons by 2020 from 1 million tons today, a top company executive said Tuesday at AMM’s Recycled Aluminum Conference in Chicago.
While nearly 80 percent of Novelis’ scrap inputs now come from can-based scrap, the company will diversify its mix to ensure at least half its scrap intake is not can-based by 2020 by investing in new technologies and capacity for processing other grades of scrap, Novelis vice president of global recycling Derek Prichett said.....
