Caterpillar to build tractor plant in US

CHICAGO — Caterpillar Inc. plans to open a new U.S. manufacturing plant for small track-type tractors and mini hydraulic excavators as part of a strategy to move production closer to many customers who use those products.

In establishing a new U.S. plant, Caterpillar would shift production away from its Sagami, Japan, facility in order to serve a large portion of its tractor and excavator customers located in North America and Europe. ....
