Dongbu to seek US scrap for ramp-up

NEW YORK Dongbu Steel Co. Ltd.s demand for U.S. ferrous scrap will increase in the coming years due to production expansions, sources at the South Korean steelmaker told AMM.
Dongbu Steel intends to grow its existing 3-million-tonne-per-year electric furnace (EF) to 10 million tonnes per year, one source said. He said the steelmaker would add 1.2 million tonnes to its capacity in 2012.
However, a second source at the company denied any knowledge of the 2012 expansion plan, but confirmed that the company is hoping to ramp up to 10 millions by 2020.....
