Boeing confident despite AMR Ch. 11 filing: exec

LOS ANGELES — AMR Corp.’s Chapter 11 filing this week looks to be "very positive" for Boeing Co. in the long run despite orders for 200 planes from AMR subsidiary American Airlines and the likelihood that the carrier will move to restructure some of its leases, the head of Boeing’s airliner unit said.

Fort Worth, Texas-based AMR’s filing for federal bankruptcy protection from creditors, made Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, should end up as "a very positive thing for them and a very positive thing for us," Jim Albaugh, president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said at Credit Suisse’s Aerospace & Defense Conference in New York.....
