NEW YORK After nearly five years of negotiations, the United States and South Korea have signed a trade pact, considered one of the most significant trade agreements since the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1994.
Before the free-trade agreement (FTA) can be implemented, each country must show that it can comply with the obligations outlined in the agreement. South Korean President Lee Myung-bak signed these obligation agreements Tuesday, which means the deal could go into effect as early as Jan. 1 (AMM, Nov. 30). ....
