New bill aims to force XL Pipeline approval

NEW YORK — A bill introduced Wednesday afternoon by Republican senators aims to force President Obama to approve TransCanada Corp.’s delayed $7-billion Keystone XL Pipeline project within 60 days.

The proposed legislation, named the North American Energy Security Act, was introduced by Sen. Dick Lugar (R., Ind.). It mirrors similar legislation that was passed by the House in July—but not moved to the Senate—that required the President to approve the project by Nov. 1. ....
