NEW YORK Ferrous scrap prices in St. Louis jumped $30 to $40 per gross ton Tuesday, following price trends previously set in Cincinnati and Detroit.
Market sources said prices for obsolete and cut grades settled an average of $30 per gross ton higher than in November, while prime grades rose $40 per gross ton.
No. 1 heavy melting steel scrap jumped to $395 per gross ton from $365 previously; No. 1 bundles rose to $470 per gross ton from $430; and shredded scrap climbed to $440 per gross ton from $410.....
