Base metals prices creep up in LME pre-market on steady euro

Base metals prices improved slightly in pre-market trading on the London Metal Exchange on December 7, as trading thinned ahead of the EU heads of state summit on December 9.
“We’ll see what [German chancellor Angela] Merkel and [French president Nicolas] Sarkozy are cooking up between them, but they’ve talked of bringing sanctions against countries that default [on debt payments] and that will only make things worse,” a category I trader said.
