NEW YORK Steel Dynamics Inc.s Mesabi Nugget LLC plant is expected to resume production shortly after an "overpressure event" blew pieces of steel siding off a building, resulting in the brief hospitalization of a contract worker at the Hoyt Lakes, Minn., site.
The incident occurred while the plant was being taken down for maintenance Monday, Dave Bednarz, vice president of iron resources at Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Steel Dynamics, told AMM. "We were going down for routine maintenance in the cooling area of the facility, and about half an hour into that procedure we experienced the event.....
